Trip Overview |
| Austrian were the first to climb Cho Oyu in 1954 and they were followed by Indians and Germans team in 1958 and 1964 respectively and till date many mountaineers from the different part of the world have get to the summit successfully. Cho Oyu lies beautifully right in edge of Nepal/Tibet border. The Tibetan side is arguably the most technically straightforward, accessible and safe to climb and on a good day the view from the summit is reathtaking as entire panorama of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Chamlang, Ama Dablam and other peaks of the Khumbu can be seen clearly. We drive from Kathmandu to Zhangmu and then after customs formalities we drive further to Old Tingri, from where the trekking begins. We set up Base Camp at Rongbuk glacier at 5180m though the real climbing starts at camp 1 at an elevation of 7000m.
